Koulpelgo: A large delegation from the Soudougui commune, including traditional and religious leaders, community watchdogs, and business owners, paid a heartfelt tribute on Wednesday to the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) at the town hall.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation, led by the Prefect and President of the Soudougui Special Delegation, Nebgniga Ouedraogo, was mandated by the sons and daughters of the commune to express the population's gratitude to the forces involved for their sacrifices in securing the area and the gradual return of peace.
Speaking on behalf of the combat forces, the detachment commander expressed his satisfaction with the initiative, emphasizing that it provided encouragement and support to the troops deployed in the field. He stressed the need to strengthen social cohesion and collaboration between the population and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).
For his part, the prefect praised the citizen initiative and the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces as well as the VDP, which made it possible to contain and repel the actions of armed groups in the area. Nebgniga Ouedraogo reaffirmed the constant support of the administrative authorities for the process of reconquering the territory and called on the various social components to unite for a lasting return of peace.
The delegation also welcomed the newly deployed territorial gendarmerie brigade to Soudougui, following the police withdrawal last July. Symbolic gifts were presented to the armed forces as a token of appreciation, before the ceremony concluded in a fraternal atmosphere.
