Koulp©logo: Students from the Ouargaye High School Encouraged to Embrace Local Products and Patriotism

Koulp©logo: Students from the Ouargaye departmental high school were encouraged by the Secretary General of the Koulp©logo province, Patind© Zoungrana, to adopt patriotic behaviors, particularly through consuming local products and respecting social values. This urging occurred during the flag-raising ceremony, part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, established in 2024 by President of Faso, Ibrahim Traor©.

According to Burkina Information Agency, these national days, organized in two fifteen-day periods in March-April and November, aim to promote a change in mentality by breaking away from bad practices and encouraging behaviors conducive to endogenous development. For the 2026 edition, held from March 26 to April 9, the presidential message emphasized local consumption.

Zoungrana highlighted the importance of being proud of locally produced items and encouraged students to appreciate local dishes such as babenda or gonr©, which are often overlooked in favor of imported products. He also promoted the wearing of Faso Danfani, a symbol of national cultural identity, noting its growing adoption by authorities and citizens.

He reminded the audience that this vision aligns with the ideals of Thomas Sankara, the father of the Burkinabe Revolution, who championed self-sufficiency and the development of local resources. Beyond economic considerations, Zoungrana stressed the importance of cultivating fundamental values such as respect for elders, obedience to supervisors, and discipline as guarantees for personal and collective success.

"You are the builders of tomorrow," he addressed the students, urging them to fully commit to their studies and the construction of a strong nation. The Secretary General concluded by stating that the flag-raising ceremony, now institutionalized at the national level, serves as a framework for strengthening civic-mindedness and citizen engagement.
