Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Kouls region, Bernadette Adenyo/Serm, has inaugurated a regional workshop aimed at promoting the laws concerning the status of heroes, martyrs, disabled people, and wards of the Nation. This initiative seeks to enhance the understanding and application of these legal texts by the region's vital forces.According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop, organized by the Secretariat of the National Commission for the Analysis and Monitoring of the Files of Heroes, Martyrs, and Disabled Persons of the Nation, spans two days and includes 75 participants. Attendees consist of members from the Defence and Security Forces, decentralized State services, civil society organizations, customary and religious authorities, as well as associations representing women, youth, widows, and orphans.In her address, Ms. Adenyo/Serm praised the Kouls region as a symbol of resilience amid the security crisis. She emphasized that these legal texts serve as the nation's expression of g ratitude to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and the protection of their families. She urged participants to acquaint themselves thoroughly with these legal provisions to better support the beneficiaries.Pingdbamba Esther Som/Kiema, head of the department of administrative, legal, institutional, and political governance at the Prime Minister's office, highlighted that the workshop will feature discussions on the rights and privileges associated with the statuses of hero, martyr, disabled person, and ward of the Nation. Procedures for their recognition will also be covered. She stressed the importance of these laws in valuing the efforts of citizens in defending the homeland and honoring the memory of those who have fallen. She encouraged participants to act as outreach agents to ensure rights holders are informed about recognition mechanisms and procedures for contacting the National Commission.
