Ouagadougou: Officials from the Kouls© region commended the region's teams on Tuesday in Kaya for their sporting achievements at the 52nd Burkina Faso School and University Sports Union (USSU-BF) Games and the 7th National Competition for Sports Youth Training Schools (EFORS), held in Tenkodogo and Fada N'Gourma respectively. The event took place during the traditional monthly flag-raising ceremony at the Kouls© Regional Tax Office.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the flag-raising ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of the Sandbondtenga province, Idrissa Gamsonr©, representing the Governor of the Kouls© region. The provincial director of Sports, Youth and Employment of Sandbondtenga, T©ganaba Willy, presented the report on the participation of the Kouls© teams in national competitions, notably in the 52nd edition of the final phases of the USSU-BF and the 7th edition of the EFORS, held respectively in Tenkodogo and Fada N'Gourma.

He indicated that the Kouls© region won the national under-17 football trophy at the 52nd edition of the USSU-BF finals, held in Tenkodogo, after a penalty shootout victory against the Nakamb© region. During the 7th edition of the national competition for Sports Youth Training Schools (EFORS), held in Fada N'Gourma, the Kouls© teams also distinguished themselves by winning first place in football and third place in volleyball.

According to Mr. Willy, these performances are the result of the combined efforts of coaches, athletes, and all those involved in the sport. He did, however, advocate for increased resources allocated to the Youth Sports Training School to encourage more regular participation in national competitions.

Upon receiving the trophies, High Commissioner Idrissa Gamsonr© praised these distinctions, which contribute to the region's prestige. 'Congratulations to the teams for the trophies won. Congratulations also to those involved in education for the satisfactory results recorded in school exams, across all streams,' he said, before inviting the various stakeholders to maintain the course of excellence for the benefit of Kouls©.

The ceremony was also marked by the official presentation of the new commander of the First Gendarmerie Legion, Lieutenant-Colonel Guingan© Modeste, who took up his duties on July 27, 2026.
