Koulse: The start of the 2025-2026 school year was marked by a collective raising of the national colors, this Wednesday, October 1, in the communal schools A and C of Kaya. In the presence of students, teachers, and local administrative authorities, this symbolic moment allowed to reaffirm the spirit of patriotism and the commitment to a successful new school year.
According to Burkina Information Agency, October 1, 2025, the first day back at school, was marked by the raising of the national colors to the sound of the national anthem, proudly sung by students from the A municipal schools and the General Education College (CEG), in the presence of teachers and local authorities.
This official start of the school year was also an opportunity for Gamsonre Idrissa, High Commissioner of the Sandbondtenga province, to convey the message from the Governor of the Koulse region to the students and all those involved in education.
While welcoming the satisfactory results of the previous school year, the regional authority expressed its confidence in this new school year, despite the challenges ahead, such as the reopening of schools and the implementation of reforms in the education sector.
“A new year begins with its challenges, but I remain confident, because with the combined efforts of the administrative authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), partners, and especially the actors on the ground, this challenge will be met,” he declared.
He reaffirmed his commitment to educational stakeholders and urged students to demonstrate discipline and hard work: “Be students driven by courage, patriotism, and discipline. It is with this kind of attitude that we will be able to build the Burkina of tomorrow, a prosperous Burkina,” he advised.
The regional director in charge of post-primary education, spokesperson for the teaching orders, indicated that the Koulse region is fully in line with the dynamics of educational reforms, with the introduction of English and the promotion of traditional dress.
In this resilient region, 41 schools have been reopened for the 2025-2026 school year, thanks to the support of the FDS and stakeholders involved in the education sector.
The Koulse region recorded a success rate of 92.16% for the Primary School Certificate (CEP) for the 2024-2025 school year. For the First Cycle Studies Certificate (BEPC) and the Baccalaureate (BAC), these rates are 46.14% and 57.92% respectively. The trend in these results is upwards compared to previous sessions.
