Bougouriba:: The populations of Kourga and surrounding villages now have a modern Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS), inaugurated on Saturday, April 11, in the presence of health authorities, administrative authorities, security forces and local populations. This long-awaited facility represents a significant step forward in improving access to healthcare services for the affected populations. District Medical Officer Djibril Boro expressed his satisfaction with the opening of this new infrastructure. He stated that this Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) would considerably strengthen the healthcare services available in the region and promote better access to care for residents.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the center includes a clinic, a maternity ward, staff accommodation, a medicine depot, a store, and a kitchen, all designed to optimize patient care. It will serve, in particular, the villages of Kourga, Yeriba-Peulh, Saopo, and Possodo.
The ceremony began with a welcome address from the chief of the village of Kourga, followed by blessings from traditional and religious authorities. Speaking on behalf of the women, Barkissa Bande expressed her satisfaction: "The maternity ward will help us a lot. Pregnant women will be able to have their prenatal consultations here and give birth in better conditions."
Representing the residents of Ouagadougou, the former mayor of Zonse, Zampou Seybou, explained the choice of project: "We prioritized health over a road project because it was an urgent need for our people." He also urged the beneficiaries to preserve the infrastructure: "This structure belongs to you; take care of it."
The district chief medical officer took the opportunity to introduce the staff assigned to the center, including Major Harouna Guebre, midwife Dieudonne Kabore, and the head of prevention and vaccination, Siguio Gogona. For his part, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zonse, Wendinmi Frederic Ouedraogo, welcomed the completion of the CSPS. "This is an important step in improving access to healthcare for our rural populations," he stated.
He further urged the population to adopt good health habits: "Visit the center at the first sign of illness and encourage prenatal consultations." Addressing the health workers, he added: "We expect professionalism and commitment from you in serving the population."
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of the ribbon, followed by a guided tour of the center's various rooms.
