Koupla:The Royal Court of Koupla recently hosted a press conference to announce the first edition of "Yaa Tond Kugpeaala," a social event aimed at fostering local development and social cohesion. The event, initiated by His Majesty Naaba Yemd Kourit-yir-soaba, will take place on November 14 and 15, 2026, in Koupla.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event seeks to gather individuals from the Kourittenga province, including local residents, the diaspora, and those in other regions of Burkina Faso. The initiative is backed by key figures such as Ibrahim Blemkoabga, President of the National Organising Committee, who emphasized its origins in the vision of His Majesty Kourit-Yir Soba.
The event's goal is to reconnect the people of Kourittenga who have dispersed across the country and beyond. Moctar Ilboudo, High Commissioner of Kourittenga province, highlighted the community-oriented focus of the event, noting its potential to enhance citizen participation and address local needs in health and education.
Specific challenges in the province, such as the absence of an imaging machine at the Koupla hospital, insufficient desks in schools, and a lack of boreholes, underline the need for contributions from the Kourittenga community. The upcoming event will feature sports competitions, a cultural evening, a citizen day for making Faso Mêbo paving stones, and donation distributions.
Under the high patronage of Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Oudraogo and sponsored by the Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana, "Yaa Tond Kugpeaala" is set to become an annual event, strengthening ties within the community each November.
