Kourittenga Marathon Committee Reviews 2025 Marathon Success

Bougouriba: organizing committee of the 4th edition of the Marathon presented its activity report on Friday, April 10, 2026, in the presence of marathon stakeholders, local authorities, and the public. The event was held under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, for the 4th edition of the Marathon held in November 2025 in the province of Kourittenga, more than fifteen commissions had been put in place for the success of this sporting event. The theme of the upcoming 5th edition of the Marathon is "Strides for the Popular Progressive Revolution."

The President of the Organizing Committee (PCO) of the Marathon, Ousmane Sandwidi, reported that the objectives set for the 2025 marathon have been achieved. He expressed satisfaction with various aspects, including technical, sporting, cultural, community mobilization, and support for internally displaced persons.

Mr. Sandwidi identified areas for improvement, particularly the 48-hour duration, which he found insufficient, as well as the sporting and technical aspects, which require enhancement for greater effectiveness. The review of the 4th edition revealed that the 5th edition is scheduled for November 27, 28, and 29, 2026, in the Kourittenga province.

"Looking ahead, a special edition of the joking relationship event has been planned," stated Ousmane Sandwidi, president of the organizing committee. He also noted that performance levels for the competition categories will remain consistent with past editions. Additionally, a sports walk is planned for people over sixty years of age.

He expressed gratitude to the authorities, various marathon committees, and all contributors to the success of the 4th edition. He urged the residents of Kourittenga and the province to mobilize and ensure the success of the 2026 Marathon.

The High Commissioner of the Kourittenga province, Moctar Ilboudo, commended the organizing committee for the event's success and called on the province's people to participate actively in the 5th edition scheduled for 2026.
