Bouss©: The day of customs and traditions was celebrated on May 15, 2025, in Bouss© with fervor. Between libation and the immolation of animals, the customary people implored the spirits of the ancestors for victory over the forces hostile to the reconquest of territorial integrity and the return of peace.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the 2nd edition of the day dedicated to ancestor worship was marked in Bouss© on Thursday, May 15, 2025, with sacrificial rituals, tastings of local dishes, and performances by traditional artists. In Pouloupoukou as in Sandogo, in sectors 2 and 3, the followers of ancestral cults followed the different stages of the rituals with devotion. Sitting on the ground, the priests made several types of offerings to the ancestors.
The memory of the predecessors was invoked for peace, the protection of the rulers, and all the populations for a good rainy season. Ancestors were also called upon to address individual concerns about health and prosperity and were recognized for granting wishes. Traditional leaders and citizens expressed their gratitude to the authorities for establishing this day.
Tansoaba emphasized the importance of this day, which allows people to value their ancestors. "May 15 is an opportunity, in addition to the ordinary rituals of the beginning and end of wintering, to pay tribute to our predecessors for the cultural riches they have left us," he said. In their prayers, the customary people asked the spirits of the ancestors for a rapid return to peace and protection for the highest authorities.
Benjamin Bagr©, VDP of the commune, and Jean-Baptiste Ouarma, notable of the Yipala district, expressed their satisfaction and welcomed this initiative of the authorities, which allows them to reconnect with their roots. "We pay tribute to the President of Burkina Faso and express our hope that the sacrifices bear fruit for a peaceful and prosperous Burkina Faso," said Mr. Bagr©.
Martin Bamogo, a gold miner from Banfora, expressed his gratitude to his ancestors. "This commemoration is for me a return to my roots. I came to give thanks to our ancestors who have always granted me and my family health and protection and who support me in my quest for prosperity," he said.
The various sites were visited by a delegation from the town hall led by the President of the special delegation (PDS) of Bouss©, Issaka Ganemtore. The PDS wished the community a happy celebration and urged them to work harder to consolidate social cohesion and live together in the municipality.
