Kourweogo: The Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina Faso (AFEMIB) conducted two training workshops on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14, 2026, for members of the Naynere cooperative in Bousse and the Sougr-nooma cooperative in the village of Silmiougou. These workshops aimed to strengthen the financial autonomy of these cooperatives through the mobilization and management of their own resources.
According to Burkina Information Agency, organized with the technical and financial support of the Project to Strengthen Land and Mine Management (PARGFM), a mission from AFEMIB stayed in Bousse from Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February 2026, to train members of the Naynere cooperative in Bousse and of Sougr-nooma in the village of Silmiougou on strengthening financial empowerment. This outing is part of the implementation of component 3 "Community Development" and its sub-component 3.2 "Local Content, Economic Integration and Community Development", of the PARGFM.
This activity aims to establish and operationalize Village Savings and Credit Associations (VSLAs) within the established cooperatives, in order to consolidate their financial viability, secure the savings and income of their members, and ensure the sustainability of their Income-Generating Activities (IGAs). It is in this context that this training is organized in the commune of Bousse in order to implement the AVEC approach within the Sougr-nooma cooperative for the breeding of small ruminants located in the village of Silmiougou and Nayinere for the production of shea butter located in sector no 1 of the commune of Bousse.
Returning to the objectives and content of the training, the program manager, Edouard N. Kambire, indicated that the workshop aims to install and operationalize Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) within the 2 cooperatives, in order to strengthen their financial and management capacities and to guarantee the sustainability of the income-generating activities (IGAs). In Bousse as in Silmiougou, the mission provided the cooperatives with a kit consisting of a chest, purses, notebooks, register and various office supplies.
Mr. Kambire explained to the participants the AVEC methodology, which guides the organization, the procedure for endogenous financial collections, the keeping of records and the transparent management of funds and the management of savings and the granting of credit. The participants from each cooperative then proceeded to set up a management committee and to develop internal regulations to govern the operation of the fund.
They expressed their satisfaction with the conduct and content of the work. They conveyed their gratitude to AFEMIB and PARGFEM for the support provided to the development of their associations. For Monique Ilboudo/Bagre, of the Nayinere cooperative, the approach of mobilizing own financial resources according to the AVEC methodology establishes more reassuring operating rules and will contribute to strengthening the cohesion of the group.
In the same vein, the president of the Sougri-nooma association, Issiaka Sankara, found that this fundraising strategy contrasts with formulas already tested. In addition to being better structured, this fund will be a resource for the realization of individual projects, a support for the success of the cooperative's main activity.
Edouard N. Kambire invited the participants to strive to be role models for success.
