Bouss©: The provincial director responsible for Communication in Kourw©ogo, Kpagnanin Yaniopuoruo Bouverot Somda, has committed to fulfilling his mission during a handover ceremony led by the High Commissioner of the province, Mahamadi Congo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Somda was appointed by the Council of Ministers on February 19, 2025, as an administrator of tourism services. He replaces Drissa Sidib©, who held the position for five years. Somda expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the authorities and vowed to carry out his responsibilities with dedication. He emphasized his lifelong value of service and pledged to continue the initiatives started by his predecessor, particularly in promoting and safeguarding cultural and tourist heritage.
The new director highlighted the importance of support from authorities, organizations, and the local population to successfully fulfill his duties. Meanwhile, the outgoing director, Drissa Sidib©, shared his gratitude for the support he received during his tenure. Sidib© reflected on the efforts to enhance the cultural scene in the province, including activities to inform and raise awareness among cultural promoters and artists regarding the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund and the Burkinabe Copyright Office.
Sidib© also pointed out the administrative and technical assistance provided for organizing cultural events and the province's participation in regional and national cultural gatherings. He noted the personal enrichment gained from interacting with local tradition keepers and thanked those who contributed to the province's cultural influence, urging them to support Somda in his new role.
High Commissioner Mahamadi Congo reiterated the administration's commitment to backing Somda in his mission and commended Sidib©'s achievements in promoting local traditions and heritage. During the event, the Kourw©ogo Theatre Company presented a sketch advocating for the establishment of a center dedicated to the arts and culture in Bouss©.
