Mouhoun: The village of K¨ra, situated in the commune of Bondoukuy, marked the 3rd edition of its day of customs and traditions on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The event focused on the theme "Kinship and Joke Alliance between the Bwa and the Dafing," highlighting cultural unity and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration was under the patronage of His Majesty Sina S©r©, the canton chief of Safan©. The event saw the participation of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, along with many locals and visitors who gathered to honor ancestral values and communal living.
The President of the special delegation of the commune of Bondoukuy, Lazare Bado, attended the ceremony with several local dignitaries. The performances of the K¨ra fiber masks and the Maoula leaf masks were the highlights of the day, featuring ritual dances, artistic expressions, and traditional rites that showcased the richness of local cultural heritage.
A symbolic tree planting ceremony also took place, emphasizing the organizers' dedication to environmental preservation and the passing down of cultural values to future generations. The PDS highlighted the day of customs and traditions as a means for people to reconnect with their cultural roots, promoting social cohesion and national unity while respecting religious and community differences.
The village chief of K¨ra praised the strong community turnout, noting that the day provides a platform for promoting and safeguarding ancestral practices, which are essential for peace and fraternity between communities. His Majesty Sina S©r© emphasized the social importance of joke kinship between the Bwa and Dafing communities, describing it as a mechanism for conflict prevention and resolution, fostering understanding and social cohesion.
He urged the community to maintain a spirit of peace and solidarity and encouraged those working towards the nation's defense and development. The celebration, rich with cultural activities, reaffirms K¨ra's commitment to preserving cultural heritage and strengthening the joking kinship ties between the Bwa and Dafing peoples.
