Koulpelogo: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Lalgaye concluded its 2026 Organization of Sport and Culture in Primary School (OSCEP) activities on Friday, May 15, in Lalgaye with a football final that featured a thrilling match between Lalgaye Centre 'A' school and Paorin school, promoting themes of social cohesion, resilience, and patriotism.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Lalgaye Centre 'A' emerged victorious over Paorin with a narrow 1-0 win, securing this year's trophy. The closing ceremony was marked by artistic performances, traditional dances, recitals, and prize awards, all contributing to a festive and patriotic atmosphere.
Harouna Zabsonre, head of the Lalgaye CEB, described the event as satisfactory, noting that the activities began on October 4, 2025, and included participation from numerous schools in the district. Eleven schools competed in the football category, four in athletics, and nine in cultural activities. Zabsonre commended the dedication of teachers, supervisors, parents, and volunteers who made the event possible despite financial and logistical challenges. He also expressed gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland for their efforts in restoring peace to the area.
The ceremony was jointly sponsored by Amidou Koudougou, head of YANNA FISH company, and Warrant Officer Abdoul Sanou. It attracted a large gathering of administrative, traditional, military, and educational authorities, as well as parents and supporters. Amidou Koudougou, speaking for the patrons, thanked educational leaders for their trust and expressed his enthusiasm for supporting initiatives that benefit children's development. He highlighted the role of sports and culture in fostering unity and peace, urging students to embrace fair play and healthy competition.
Jacques Dabone, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Lalgaye, praised the strong community involvement in the event, emphasizing that such activities demonstrate resilience and a commitment to keeping Burkinab¨ schools active despite challenges. Dabone pointed out that school sports are not just recreational but also crucial for instilling human and civic values, such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, essential for nurturing responsible and engaged youth.
