Koudougou: The governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean-Yves Bere, officially launched the 'Revolutionary Youth on the March' (JRM) initiative on April 2 in Koudougou, marking the first anniversary of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP).
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, is being conducted nationwide with the goal of fostering the adoption of revolutionary ideals among the youth of Burkina Faso. The governor emphasized the importance of the RPP, proclaimed on April 1, 2025, by President Ibrahim Traore, signifying a departure from a past perceived as detrimental to national sovereignty and social welfare.
The RPP aims to create a new governance model founded on principles such as social justice, patriotism, integrity, and solidarity. It seeks to leverage the active participation of the populace, especially the youth, who are seen as pivotal to this movement. "You are the lifeblood of this revolution and you are at its forefront," the governor declared, urging young individuals to engage actively in national transformation efforts.
The "Revolutionary Youth on the March" initiative will be rolled out across Burkina Faso's 47 provinces, featuring activities such as moments of silence for martyrs, tribute and commitment days, educational discussions, public lectures, and awareness campaigns via audiovisual media. It also aims to provide a platform for rejecting imperialism, neocolonialism, and external interference, while promoting sovereignty within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
A minute of silence was observed at the ceremony to honor the nation's martyrs. The governor also called on the youth to embrace this initiative to aid in reclaiming territorial integrity and fostering peace, referencing a quote by Thomas Sankara on the crucial role of youth in societal development.
Following the launch, a cross-country race was held, involving numerous young participants. The event included a group aerobics session, where the governor, administrative and military officials, and guests participated, highlighting a commitment to fostering unity, sovereignty, and resilience in Burkina Faso beyond rhetoric.
The ceremony concluded with a call for widespread mobilization around the ideals of the People's Progressive Revolution.
