Leer Festival Concludes with High Attendance and Cultural Celebrations in Zabr

Boulgou: The curtain has fallen on the 6th edition of the Leer Festival, a major event organized by the Leer Sar association, which took place from November 6 to 9, 2025, in the commune of Zabr. This annual festival brought together a large number of festival-goers and highlighted the cultural and agricultural heritage of the Boulgou region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this year's program featured several highlights that left a lasting impression, including a visit to the canton chief of Zabr, a popular cross-country race, and a grand opening ceremony. Each evening at sunset, festival-goers participated in community discussions, fostering conviviality and social cohesion within the community. The long lines at the festival entrance attest to the growing success of this event year after year.

Read by the High Commissioner of Boulgou, Constantin D. Dabir, the message from the Minister of Culture, Gilbert Pengwend Oudraogo, patron of the event, praised "this noble initiative, now an essential cultural event that actively contributes to the flourishing of our cultural heritage." He affirmed his commitment to advocating for increased support for this cultural initiative.

The festival's promoter, Caleb Zinssoni, known as Kezi, who is also a musician, expressed his joy and pride in seeing the community embrace this event, which has become a tool for promoting local cultures and traditions. "Thousands of festival-goers visit us every evening. It's an immense feeling to see the people of Zabr and the surrounding areas supporting this initiative, which shows the world that, even in difficult times, Burkina Faso thrives through its culture, a factor of social cohesion," the promoter stated.

The festivities were enlivened by a series of live and playback concerts from local and international artists, which delighted an enthusiastic audience.

The prefect, Alain Boubi Bassono, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zabr, expressed his gratitude to the organizer and all those involved in the festival, emphasizing the importance of this event in strengthening social ties and promoting peace. "By celebrating our cultural diversity, we strengthen our social bonds and foster lasting peace. The Leer Festival contributes to local development and supports our armed forces in their mission of defense and peacekeeping," he stated.

Placed under the theme "Contribution of culture to the promotion of peace and social cohesion: issues and perspectives," the 2025 edition introduced new activities, including a popular cross-country race followed by an aerobics session, marking an innovation for this edition.

The Leer Sar association also took the opportunity to present awards of recognition to its partners and resource persons, emphasizing the importance of collective support. In addition to the festivities, symbolic gestures were made to improve the living conditions of Zabr residents, including the donation of trash cans to the municipality and a ton of cement to support the presidential initiative Faso Mebo.

The 2025 edition of the Leer Festival was a success, as evidenced by the record attendance of festival-goers, despite the paid entry, thus reinforcing the values of peace, solidarity, and development at the heart of Boulgou.
