Gueguere: The Libiele team clinched victory in the final of the second edition of the Gueguere youth cup, defeating V4 Badone 2-0 in front of promoter Jean Baptiste Dabire and sponsors W¨die Some and Zi¨me Florentin Some.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition, which began on April 25, 2026, culminated on June 27 with an exciting final on the village pitch. The match attracted a large crowd of young supporters from the Gueguere commune, eager to witness the clash between V4 Badone and Libiele. Out of the 37 villages in Gueguere, 22 participated in this edition.

The final was a hard-fought battle, with Libiele taking an early lead in the 12th minute. Despite V4 Badone's attempts to equalize in the second half, Libiele secured their victory with a second goal, ending the match 2-0.

For their triumph, the Libiele team was awarded the trophy, 270,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball. The runners-up, V4 Badone, received 150,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball. Kolkol, finishing in third place, took home 75,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball, while Gogoba, in fourth place, received 50,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball. Every participating team was given a football.

Jean-Baptiste Dabire, the event's promoter, emphasized the competition's aim to foster social cohesion and community spirit among the youth from various villages. He expressed gratitude to all contributors and sponsors for their support.

W¨die Some, a mining craftsman from Tenoule and sponsor of the competition, expressed his delight at being associated with the initiative, praising it for enhancing relationships among the youth. Zi¨me Florentin Some, a co-sponsor and mining craftsman in Koukour, commended the skill and sportsmanship displayed by the teams and encouraged continued unity among the youth.

This second edition of the Gueguere Youth Cup continues to promote sport as a means of fostering social cohesion and uniting the community.
