Zambo: The Lions Club Ouagadougou Challenge, in partnership with the Orange Burkina Foundation, carried out a distribution of food and booklets to the benefit of the students of the public primary school ce Djikologo, in the commune of Zambo, province of Ioba. The donation, consisting of rice, macaroni, salt, beans, oil, and study books, is valued at 2,000,000 CFA francs.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Aristide Compaor©, president of the Lions Club Ouagadougou Challenge, stated that this donation aims to support students and improve their learning conditions. He emphasized the role of their service club as a group of friends committed to helping those in need and highlighted the long-standing partnership with the Orange Burkina Foundation. Mr. Compaor© noted the choice of Djikologo school for this charitable act, emphasizing that children are the future of the nation.
Moussa Zongo, representative of the Orange Burkina Foundation, pointed out that this gesture is a continuation of previous support given to the school, including provisions of food and digital tablets. The ongoing commitment underscores the importance of sustaining educational development in the region.
The director of the school, Badani Da, expressed gratitude for the donations and appealed for further assistance in the form of desks, benches, and a secure enclosure for the school. He highlighted the positive impact of the support, mentioning that the school achieved a 100% pass rate on the Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP) exam for two consecutive years. Despite the success, the school faces challenges with inadequate furniture for its 458 students across six classes.
The handover ceremony was attended by students, teachers, school partners, and traditional leaders of the village, creating an atmosphere of recognition and solidarity, as the community came together to celebrate this act of kindness.
