Ouagadougou: The L©o Basic Education District (CEB) inaugurated its sports and cultural activities for the 2025-2026 season on the grounds of the L©o-Kutian schools, emphasizing the theme "Sport and culture, factors of social cohesion and patriotism." This event aims to instill civic responsibility among students amidst ongoing security challenges.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch ceremony was led by Kassoum Koalaga, the prefect and president of the Special Delegation (PDS) of L©o, and was attended by the educational community and numerous students. This season showcases a wide array of disciplines with 44 teams in men's football, four in women's football, and 12 participants each in cycling and athletics. Culturally, eight groups will compete in traditional dance, six in culinary arts, and twelve in theatre and recitals.

He remarked on the country's difficult period and the role of schools in societal development, stressing that healthy competition fosters "living together" and a "culture of peace." Despite the enthusiasm, Konditamd© expressed concern over some schools' non-participation, underscoring the need for all schools to engage in future editions. He plans to address financial and logistical challenges by raising awareness among parents and training new School Management Committees (COGES).
Kassoum Koalaga, the PDS of L©o, encouraged students to showcase sportsmanship and called on partners to support this initiative, which aims to shape students into responsible citizens. Leinone Arnaud Dabir©, Secretary General of the Organization for Sport, Cultural and Leisure Activities (OSASCL), praised the participating schools and acknowledged the sponsors' vital role in the season's success.
In a non-competitive opening match, L©o-Kutian "A" school triumphed over Bangr© private school of L©o with a one-zero victory. The final is set for next May.
