Sissili: The monthly flag-raising ceremony was held this Tuesday in L©o, at the National Water and Sanitation Office (ONEA). Presided over by the High Commissioner of the Sissili Province, T©wind© Isaac Sia, this solemn ceremony took on a special significance as it coincided with the 43rd anniversary of the Democratic and Popular Revolution (RDP) of Thomas Sankara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event brought together all the vital forces and fighting forces of Sissili around the national flag, in a dynamic of strengthening civic duty and solidarity. Speaking at the event, the High Commissioner of Sissili, T©wind© Isaac Sia, welcomed this community mobilization. "I would like to thank all the participants for being present and I sincerely hope that this unity and perfect mutual understanding can continue," he said.
The provincial authority also addressed the launch of the mandatory patriotic immersion (IPO) program in the province, welcoming high school graduates from Sissili and Ziro. Commending the civilian, military, and paramilitary trainers for their commitment to the youth, Comrade Sia called for transparent financial mobilization to support the initiative. "A bank account has been created to allow anyone wishing to contribute to make a direct deposit. It is no longer permitted to collect or spend these funds informally: we must now maintain strict financial oversight," the High Commissioner emphasized, while also urging the population to be generous in order to benefit the province.
For the head of the reception service, Nayil© Th©odore Wendemi M©da, the head of the ONEA center in L©o, hosting the ceremony honors his institution. He took the opportunity to urge the population and his colleagues to work hard and remain resilient. "The message we want to send to the entire population is to maintain a spirit of patriotism and resilience in the face of the security crisis," stated Mr. M©da.
Addressing the technical challenges of his facility, he reassured everyone about the ongoing efforts to ensure a reliable drinking water supply. "Our priority remains ensuring the supply of drinking water. With several boreholes currently being connected and the imminent completion of expansion work, we hope that all of this infrastructure will be finalized before the end of 2026."
Representing the Catholic Church among the nation's leading figures, Emmanuel Nignan, a retiree, expressed the symbolic significance of August 4th for both older and younger generations. "It's a memorable day. August 4th is a date etched in the history of Burkina Faso, the day the first Revolution was born. Even today, we are led by a revolutionary government, and we are happy to see these values reborn," he stated, calling on young people to remain mobilized and committed to the return of peace and serenity to the country.
The ceremony concluded in a spirit of social cohesion and reaffirmation of republican values, with plans to meet again on Thursday morning for the popular civil-military cross-country race.
