Loroum: Painter Victor Sawadogo, of the Picasso Dcor company in Ouahigouya, advocated on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Titao, for the establishment of a craft center dedicated to painting and sculpture. He was speaking at an art exhibition held in conjunction with cultural activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Titao parish.
According to Burkina Information Agency, from August 13 to 15, 2026, the painter, Victor Sawadogo, exhibited several artistic works at the Titao Youth and Culture Center. Paintings, wood sculptures, and iron creations particularly caught the attention of the faithful and participants who came to take part in the art exhibition and the jubilee festivities.
Placed under the theme: "Sculpting peace, sculpting social cohesion and drawing peace in Loroum," this exhibition of art objects was an opportunity for the artist to put his know-how at the service of promoting peace and living together. Sawadogo stated that this initiative aimed to bring smiles back to the people of Titao, who have been facing difficulties linked to the security situation. He also indicated that it was a way to participate in the celebration of the parish's 60 years of existence.
The works on display conveyed messages of peace, social cohesion, religious brotherhood, and living together. During the three days of the exhibition, more than twenty internally displaced children benefited from an introduction to painting on personalized canvases. "Beyond the exhibition of our artistic works, which are paintings and monuments, we want to promote our works which are still little known to the population," explained Victor Sawadogo.
To strengthen the practice and transmission of artistic crafts in Titao, the artist launched an appeal to the authorities. "We want the local authorities to help us to have a space for the creation of a craft center for painting and sculpture in Titao," he pleaded.
The provincial director in charge of communication, culture, arts, and tourism for Loroum, Issaka Salgo, praised the artist's initiative. "Here in Titao, the population sometimes needs this to erase the scars of insecurity," he said. He felt that the theme of these days responds to the aspirations of the national authorities who call for work towards the promotion of peace.
Comrade Salgo also called on the people to take a greater interest in culture and painting, which he considers to be means of promoting cultural values and factors of peace and social cohesion. Among those who benefited from the training was Tinto Balguissa, an internally displaced student. She expressed her satisfaction with the knowledge she gained during the activity. For her, painting can be both a game and a way to transmit values. "These works teach us values such as peace, social cohesion, and security," she said. She added that painting is a language just like any other, which must be learned to be deciphered.
