Loroum: The A2E association regreens sector 1 of Titao with 1,000 plants

The Association for Education, Environment and Human Rights (A2E), organized, on Monday, August 26, 2024, a reforestation day of 1,000 plants, in Tansaliga in sector 1 of Titao, to support the Barcouve initiative launched by the Burkinabe government. It was under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the Loroum province, Captain Djibril Bassolé.It is an alignment plantation of 1,000 plants marking the Titao-Tansaliga axis, which the Association for Education, the Environment and Human Rights (A2E), carried out this Monday, August 26, 2024.Many climate activists came out to accompany the activity."With the insecurity and the massive displacement of populations in Titao, there are no more trees nearby. The internally displaced persons have cut everything down. We are now forced to plant some," lamented an internally displaced person in Titao, Mariam Kirakoya.Citing the holy scriptures, the co-sponsor of the activity, Cheick Amadé Ouédraogo, maintained that planting trees is a work blessed by God ."Planting a tree is a good deed in the holy scriptures. Better its maintenance is blessed because the tree lives like a human being. It therefore needs maintenance," he added. On the maintenance side, the association's strategy is to entrust the planted trees to local residents.According to its president, Mamoudou Ouédraogo, each household must take ownership of the trees in front of their yard."We are proud of this tree planting activity which is in line with our attributions. The A2E Association has only removed a thorn from our side," rejoiced the 2nd Vice-president of the special delegation, Oumarou Dialla, representing the sponsor."I thank the association for this initiative. But I insist on the interview so that in two or three years, we can see again the traces of our action," said the high commissioner of the province of Loroum, Djibril Bassolé.The activists left with more than a hundred plants to continue the action undertaken in their household and concession. The activity was carried o ut with the support of the African Activists for Climate Justice (AACJ) Program and the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA).Source: Burkina Information Agency
