Ouagadougou: The provincial directorate in charge of the Environment organized the sanitation day of the city of Sindou, capital of the province of L©raba. This activity was chaired by the High Commissioner of the province of L©raba, Yacouba Sawadogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, equipped with dabas, machetes, and rakes, women and men from various structures and socio-professional strata participated in clearing the large garbage bin located in the center of Sindou. This initiative was held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in response to a directive from the Ministry of the Environment, which mandated regional and provincial directorates to conduct a sanitation day.
The activity, themed "For order and discipline, I commit myself," marks the beginning of the 2025 edition of the days of commitment and citizen participation. However, the High Commissioner, Yacouba Sawadogo, noted a lack of mobilization among residents near the cleaning site and encouraged the Sindou population to engage more actively in such activities.
Issiaka Yadia, President of the Special Delegation of the Sindou commune, announced plans to enhance regular sanitation efforts in collaboration with a women's association. Additionally, three public trash cans will be installed at strategic locations around the city. Yadia urged residents to refrain from activities that harm the environment, warning that strong measures would be enforced following upcoming awareness sessions.
