Ouagadougou: The 2026 edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion program has officially launched. The Secretary General of the Gnagna Province, Mendien dit Moussa Soma, presided over the official launch ceremony for the 2026 edition of the Mandatory Patriotic Immersion (IPO) program on Tuesday in Bogand. The ceremony, which brought together administrative, military, traditional, and religious authorities as well as members of the public, featured a demonstration by the first cohort of the IPO 2025, the broadcast of the official address by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, a symbolic tree planting, and a message of encouragement to the 349 new recruits.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the activities began with a military parade and honors provided by members of the 19th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 19), under the command of Captain Lynx, followed by the solemn execution of the Ditany¨, a symbol of the unity and attachment of the Burkinab¨ people to their homeland.
The recruits of the first edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion program in 2025 then presented a demonstration highlighting the civic knowledge, physical abilities, discipline, and patriotic values acquired during their training. This performance illustrated the results of this first experience of civic immersion.
Participants then listened to the audio recording of the official launch address for the 2026 edition of the Mandatory Patriotic Immersion program, delivered by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor. In his address to the nation, the Head of State reiterated that this initiative aims to cultivate disciplined, responsible, resilient youth, deeply committed to the ideals of sovereignty, hard work, and sacrifice for the homeland.
The ceremony continued with the symbolic planting of a tree, reflecting the commitment of the authorities and the conscripts to the restoration of vegetation cover and the preservation of the environment, in accordance with Burkina Faso's national re-greening policy.
In his address, the Secretary General of the province, Mendien dit Moussa Soma, congratulated the conscripts of the first class for the quality of their demonstration and urged the 349 conscripts of the 2026 edition to fully invest themselves in this civic and patriotic training in order to make it a true melting pot of discipline, civic-mindedness, solidarity, and love of country.
He also praised the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces, the instructors, and all those involved in organizing the ceremony, before inviting the new recruits to use the lessons learned to help reclaim the territory, strengthen social cohesion, and develop Burkina Faso.
