Abuja: The High Commissioner of the Soum province, Comrade Wend Nere Wilfried TOUGMA, President of the provincial cell of patriotic immersion, officially launched the compulsory patriotic immersion for new baccalaureate holders of the 2026 session at school A in Djibo on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was attended by the commander of the 22nd Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), who serves as the vice-president of the provincial cell for patriotic immersion, alongside officials from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), provincial directors, heads of service, and religious and customary authorities. The event began with the raising of the national colors and featured several speeches emphasizing the importance of the initiative.
During the event, Souleymane IBA, the provincial director of Secondary Education, commended the organization of the patriotic immersion program. He expressed appreciation to the authorities for initiating a program aimed at enhancing civic responsibility, discipline, and patriotic commitment among the new high school graduates.
Representatives of religious and traditional authorities expressed their support for the government's actions and commitment to backing the initiatives of the progressive and popular revolution. They urged parents and the public to endorse the reform and called on the graduates to show discipline, responsibility, and patriotism during their immersion.
The High Commissioner urged all active forces in the province to engage more in local development and the strengthening of national sovereignty. He highlighted the program as a vital step in developing responsible citizens, devoted to the principles of discipline, sacrifice, and national pride.
The event featured an official message from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, which was addressed to the young participants of the 2026 immersion program and subsequently translated into national languages. The ceremony concluded with a tree-planting session, symbolizing the participants' dedication to environmental protection and the construction of a resilient and sovereign Burkina Faso.
