Manga: Members of the special delegation equipped to manage gender-based violence

About twenty members of the Manga special delegation were equipped, on Friday, with questions of gender-based violence and the actions to be taken in the face of a case.

The training is initiated by Amnesty International Burkina Faso as part of the implementation of the project ''Strengthening Mechanisms for the Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation and Child Marriage in Burkina Faso'' supported by the For a Just Society Foundation.

It was structured around communications, group work and exchanges on the definitions of terms, causes, characteristics and consequences of gender-based violence (GBV) as well as case management.

Issoufou Dabré urged participants to be more committed to the fight against GBV.

To listen to the assistant to the project ''Strengthening of Mechanisms for the Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation and Child Marriage in Burkina Faso'', Issoufou Dabré, the choice of the training target is not fortuitous.

"The members of the delegations are key actors who have decision-making power at the municipal level and it was good form to build their capacities so that they actively participate in the protection and promotion of the rights of girls and women", said he indicated.

The participant Mariam Tondé welcomes the holding of the training.

Participant Mariam Tondé found the initiative timely.

“This training will allow us to be better equipped and know above all what to do as a member of the special delegation to fight effectively against these phenomena”, underlined Ms. Tondé.

Welcoming the interest of the participants in the subjects mentioned, Issoufou Dabré hoped that they would henceforth become more involved in the effective fight against GBV, in this case female circumcision and child marriage, practices harmful to the law and to the well-being of girls and women.

The project ''Strengthening the Mechanisms for the Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation and Child Marriage in Burkina Faso'' through which the training takes place mainly takes place in the Basgana village as far as the commune of Manga is concerned. In Burkina Faso, a total of 19 localities are beneficiaries of the project's actions.
