Ouagadougou: The inhabitants of sector 4 of the commune of Manni proceeded, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to set up their Joint Community Committee (CCM), a local body responsible for strengthening local governance and facilitating dialogue between the populations, in particular those of the reception areas, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the administration.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, held as a general assembly, was led by the municipal head of Social Action, Mr. Nianda Ablass. Discussions focused on three main points: the presentation of the Joint Community Committee, the establishment of its executive committee, and other relevant information.

At the opening of the proceedings, Mr. Nianda Ablass commended the strong turnout of the population, particularly the elderly and the leaders of the Village Development Committees (VDCs). He explained that the CCM is intended to replace the two VDCs in the area, providing a single platform for dialogue and a channel for information exchange between communities and the administration, in both directions.

The municipal head of Social Action also clarified that the Joint Community Committee is a non-political body whose mission is exclusively community-based. As such, he encouraged participants to prioritize, in selecting members, individuals who are available, honest, committed, and recognized for their sense of responsibility and dynamism in serving the community.

Before the election, a member of the community, Mr. Bourgou Tissa, urged participants to prioritize competence, integrity, and commitment over considerations of proximity or familiarity, in order to provide the sector with a credible, representative, and effective committee.

Following the consultations, the assembly proceeded to establish and then validate the Bureau of the Joint Community Committee for Sector 4, to the applause of the participants. The bureau is composed of: President: Namountougou Yvan (former CVD); Vice-president: Bourgou Sinibouga (former CVD); Secretary General: Komomdi Jean-Luc (representative of youth); Secretary in charge of information: Bourgou Yienou (representative of the customary chieftaincy); Six members, representing the elderly, women, religious leaders, people with disabilities, and internally displaced persons.

Speaking after his installation, the president of the CCM, Mr. Namountougou Yvan, thanked the residents of the displaced persons' reception zone (ZAD) for their strong mobilization and the trust they placed in his team. He invited all residents to support the committee in fulfilling its mission, reminding them that it is first and foremost an instrument at the service of the community.

To conclude his speech, he quoted a local saying that "when a man is freely chosen by his people, it is up to everyone to support and advise him so that he fully accomplishes his mission," thus calling for unity, solidarity, and collective commitment for the harmonious development of the sector.
