Poni: The Minister of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training, Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, held a meeting this Monday in Gaoua with stakeholders in secondary education in the Dj´r´ region, in the meeting room of the Regional Council, in the presence of constituted bodies.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the aim of this meeting was to encourage stakeholders in the education system, to listen to them in order to gather their concerns and to present the government's vision for education and training. At the start of the proceedings, the regional director in charge of Secondary Education, Michel Pawin Som©, presented the situation of secondary education, vocational and technical training in the region. This communication preceded the direct exchanges between the minister, his delegation and educational stakeholders.
Minister Moumouni Zoungrana stated that the meeting with education stakeholders was "very enriching" and allowed the government to express its appreciation for their efforts, particularly in support of educational continuity in the region, where schools are operating normally. He also presented the government's vision for the Burkinabe education system, which gives significant importance to vocational and technical training.
The minister also emphasized the need to place girls and women at the heart of educational governance. He indicated that while parity has almost been achieved at the primary level, the issue of school completion remains a major concern. To address this, he announced that the region will benefit from the "Deenmousso Kalan Yiriwa" project, which aims to support the schooling and retention of girls in school through the distribution of school kits, bicycles, financial support, school meals, and reinforcement courses.
Professor Moumouni Zoungrana also invited private promoters to invest more in vocational and technical training and to open multipurpose classes in order to enable students to leave the education system not only with diplomas, but also with practical skills, essential for the development of Burkina Faso.
The governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, welcomed the minister's visit, which took place shortly after he took office. According to him, this presence reflects the minister's desire to listen to those working on the ground and to better understand the challenges of the education system. On behalf of the region's key stakeholders, the governor congratulated Minister Zoungrana on his appointment and wished him every success in carrying out his mission. He also reaffirmed the willingness of the regional administration and all stakeholders in the education system to support the reforms undertaken by the ministry.
Before the meeting, the minister and his delegation took part in the flag-raising ceremony at the Bafuji provincial high school in Gaoua.
