Minister Thiombiano Urges Conscripts to Embrace Patriotism

Ouahigouya: The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Professor Adjima Thiombiano, visited the patriotic immersion site at Sainte Marie College in Ouahigouya, encouraging the 3,300 conscripts to embody patriotism, discipline, solidarity, and civic responsibility. The visit occurred on Monday, August 17, 2026, as AIB observed on site.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the purpose of the visit was to assess the conditions of the patriotic immersion, motivate the conscripts, and discuss the initiative's objectives with them. Following a solemn raising of the national flag, Professor Thiombiano addressed the conscripts, emphasizing the pride associated with patriotic immersion and urging them to uphold the values learned during their training.

Addressing the participants, Professor Thiombiano highlighted the program's aim to transform Burkinabe youth profoundly. "We want our children who enter this camp to leave with a change in their hearts. We want them to understand their true role in the development and liberation of Burkina Faso," he declared.

The minister stressed that the training is designed to enhance the civic spirit of the conscripts and deepen their understanding of their country's history, institutions, and responsibilities as future national elites. Wend-Nongma GrSce lodie Zongo, representing the conscripts, expressed her satisfaction with the minister's visit and the program, noting the valuable lessons in discipline, mutual support, integrity, honor, and civic engagement.

Minister Thiombiano reassured that the academic calendar's smooth running was secured and praised the dedication of supervisors, administrative authorities, Defense and Security Forces, and local population support for the program's success. "The information we are receiving is satisfactory. In almost two weeks, the young people have already acquired a great deal of knowledge. This is a victory that we owe to the dedication of the supervisors," he noted.

Before concluding his visit, the minister urged the conscripts to apply their lessons to serve their communities and become ambassadors of patriotism, discipline, solidarity, and civic responsibility.
