Ouagadougou: The Minister of Security, Mahamadou SANA, received in audience a delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), led by its Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Tarig Ali BAKHEET. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Burkina Faso in Riyadh and Permanent Representative to the OIC, HE Mr. Boukary Savadogo, along with representatives from the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Solidarity Fund, the Islamic Red Crescent, and the OIC Regional Mission based in Niamey.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the OIC reaffirmed its readiness to support Burkina Faso in its efforts to combat terrorism and facilitate socio-economic development through various humanitarian initiatives. Mr. Tarig Ali Bakheet commended Burkina Faso’s efforts to reclaim its territory and acknowledged President Ibrahim Traore’s leadership in both security and development. Mr. Bakheet emphasized the OIC’s firm rejection of violence in the name of Islam, reiterating the organization’s commitment to the values of peace and justice.
Minister Mahamadou Sana expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by the OIC during these challenging times. He provided the delegation with an update on the ongoing operations to secure Burkina Faso’s territory and detailed the tactics employed by terrorist groups. He urged Muslim organizations to become more actively involved in the fight against terrorism and expressed hope that the meeting would enhance multilateral cooperation between Burkina Faso and the OIC.
