Burkina faso: The new Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (MCCAT), Moctar Sanfo, has been officially installed, committing to uphold the legacy of his predecessor, Betamou Fidele Aymar Tamini. During his installation ceremony held in Ouagadougou, Sanfo emphasized his dedication to serving the state with loyalty, promising to build upon the groundwork laid by Tamini.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Moctar Sanfo expressed his intention to lead the General Secretariat with a focus on efficiency, dialogue, and collaboration. He paid tribute to Tamini, highlighting his combination of leadership, vision, and compassion, and noted that the path set by his predecessor will guide his mission to further develop and strengthen the ministry's initiatives.
Sanfo expressed gratitude to the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, for the trust placed in him. He assured his commitment to remain a devoted patriot, even in challenging times, emphasizing his sense of duty and loyalty.
Betamou Fidele Aymar Tamini, who served as the head of the General Secretariat since November 2022, reviewed his tenure's significant achievements. These included advancements in communication and media, such as establishing Daande Liptako radio, Tafouk TV, and the Burkina Information Agency as a state-owned entity. He also initiated the launch of RTB Langue nationale and resumed construction projects for RTB and ISTIC headquarters.
In culture, Tamini successfully organized several editions of FESPACO and the National Culture Week, and played a role in adopting laws on artist status and cultural heritage. He also facilitated the inscription of the Royal Court of Tiebele as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In tourism, Tamini organized the International Tourism Fair (SITHO) and managed the Thomas Sankara memorial projects.
Minister Ouedraogo commended Tamini's dedication and achievements, announcing that he would be nominated for a special decoration in December.
