The Burkinabè money transfer company Sank Money on Wednesday accused the telephone company Orange Burkina of refusing it the messaging service without internet (USSD), essential for its take-off.
The money transfer company ”Sank Business” launched in January 2021, changed its name to become ”Sank Money”, thanks to the arrival of new shareholders who increased its capital to 1 billion FCFA.
The information was given Wednesday morning during a press conference by one of the new shareholders, Saada Zougmoré.
According to Mr. Zougmoré, Sank Money, which is only accessible via the Internet, needs the USSD application (messaging system) to reach its customers who do not have the network.
According to Saada Zougmoré, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP) has given its agreement since April 18, 2023, for the mobile telephone company Orange Burkina, holder of the technology in Burkina Faso, to book.
“When ARCEP authorizes, telephony does not have the right to refuse. But they (Orange Burkina) are dilatory to make us waste the time or discourage us”, he assured.
“Without the USSD service that Orange Burkina must provide to the locally-owned company Sank Money, it will be almost difficult, if not impossible, to launch its activities in this world skilfully taken over by the hands of the multinationals which have been carving out, for years, the share of the lion and often in defiance of the interests of consumers and our States”, he insisted.
Remember that Orange Burkina also has a money transfer service called Orange Money.
The company Orange Burkina contacted the AIB on Wednesday evening to tell it that a press release would shortly be published to enlighten public opinion
