Ouagadougou: More than 2,000 new police officers officially joined the ranks of the security forces this Friday, during the graduation ceremony of the 55th class of the National Police School, named "Serving the People." This event marks a step towards strengthening the forces for the reconquest of the national territory.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the new batch comprises 2,090 agents, including 1,996 non-commissioned officers of the National Police from the direct competition, 99 municipal police officers, and 57 agents recruited directly. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, who emphasized that these new agents will bolster existing personnel to intensify efforts in reclaiming national territory, securing institutions, and protecting populations.
Minister Sana highlighted the vision of Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, which focuses on the total restoration of state authority. He also reaffirmed the department's commitment to the training and equipping of security forces. The minister commended the National Police Academy and its trainers for their efforts, expressing that the results are testament to the training program's effectiveness.
The class delegate, Isidore Dabon©, shared insights into the training process, noting that the 55th class entered the National Police School on December 6, 2024. The training combined military discipline with professional instruction tailored to the country's security realities. Mr. Dabon© emphasized the acquisition of technical skills and fundamental values such as discipline, integrity, and a sense of duty.
The promotion's theme, "Police ethics in the context of state reform," underscores the importance of restoring citizen trust through adherence to human rights, accountability, and impartiality. The general delegate expressed gratitude to the Minister of Security, the Director General of the National Police, and all supervisors for their support and resources during the training.
The new police officers have pledged to serve with dedication, maintain integrity, and contribute to the protection of persons and property wherever needed. The 55th class is sponsored by retired police chief controller Rasman© Ouangrawa, former director general of the National Police.
