More Than 205 Tons of Shea Nuts Seized by Security Forces in Gaoua

Gaoua: More than 205 tons of shea nuts were intercepted by security forces, as announced by the regional police directorate of Djoro in collaboration with the regional trade directorate. The seizure involved six trucks transporting shea kernels to a neighboring country, with an estimated value exceeding 56 million CFA francs.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor of Djoro, Siaka Barro, revealed that last month the regional directorate of Water and Forests, in collaboration with the regional directorate of Commerce, had already intercepted a 35-ton truck. This month, six more trucks were seized, bringing the total to seven.

The operation is part of efforts to combat fraud and enforce the ban on the export of shea kernels, which has been in place since September 2024. The seized products are planned to be resold to local processing units, with proceeds directed to the Patriotic Support Fund to aid in the reconquest of territorial integrity.

The governor praised the defense and security forces and all participants in the anti-fraud initiatives. He also called on economic actors to comply with existing regulations, emphasizing the continuous vigilance of security forces in border areas.

He concluded by urging everyone to contribute to upholding the law to build a strong and honest Burkina Faso.
