Mouhoun: A field mission led by focal points from the Presidency of Faso visited agricultural sites in Bondoukuy and Kera, in the Mouhoun province, to assess the progress of presidential initiatives in favor of food self-sufficiency. The mission consisted of the development focal point, Salia Millogo, and the security focal point at the Presidency of Faso, Alassane Sanogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this field visit is part of the monitoring of actions undertaken by the highest authorities in the country to promote the development of agricultural land and strengthen the involvement of the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) in agricultural production.
In Bondoukuy, the agricultural site covers an area of 12.5 hectares operated by 18 agricultural Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP). The one in Kera covers 21.37 hectares and mobilizes 29 agricultural VDPs engaged in production activities.
According to mission officials, all volunteers received 100 days of intensive training in Badnogo, aimed at strengthening their technical skills in agricultural production.
The visit took place in the presence of landowners, the presidents of the Village Development Committees (CVD) of the two localities, representatives of the municipal land service as well as the Service for the Promotion and Professional Integration of Youth (SPIPJ). This mobilization of various local actors reflects the communities' support for this presidential initiative aimed at rural development and food security.
Through this program, the Presidency of Faso intends to promote the rational use of available land while offering socio-economic integration opportunities to agricultural VDPs. The mission also allowed the focal points to exchange with the various actors involved and to encourage them to continue their efforts in order to make these agricultural sites model production hubs serving local development and food sovereignty in Burkina Faso.
