Mouhoun/Patriotic Immersion: Future High School Graduates Raised Awareness in D©dougou

Mouhoun: Future high school graduates in the city of D©dougou were informed and made aware of the mandatory patriotic immersion program in D©dougou on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The joint mission was to provide them with details of the mandatory patriotic immersion program adopted by the Council of Ministers on May 2, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the objective of this regional meeting held in D©dougou was to inform and raise awareness among candidates for the 2025 baccalaureate session, heads of establishments, and social partners on the compulsory patriotic immersion of students. Adopted by decree taken in the Council of Ministers at its meeting of May 2, 2025, compulsory patriotic immersion is an initiative that aims to enrich the educational path of future high school graduates through comprehensive training, combining physical, theoretical, and sporting aspects.

It is in line with the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ) with the aim of transmitting essential civic and patriotic values to students, as well as self-defense reflexes. For the governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, this immersion represents an important step in the construction of a new model of Burkinabe citizen, aware of his responsibilities, respectful of republican values and committed to his Nation.

He expressed his full support for this government measure and, above all, his commitment to supporting its implementation in a spirit of collaboration, education, and collective responsibility. Babo Pierre Bassinga encouraged those involved in the educational world and students to welcome this immersion not as a constraint, but as an opportunity to grow, mature, and better serve their country.

"This meeting will allow you to understand the ins and outs of this measure and to understand that all the measures taken by the government aim to build a sovereign Burkina Faso, free to make its own choices, master of its destiny and concerned about future generations," the governor said.

According to the region's top official, to achieve this, we need patriotic men and women, model citizens, and committed young people who are aware of the issues. The Director General of Specific Support at the Ministry of Secondary Education, Boureima Nabaloum, stressed that the measure concerns students admitted to the CAP, BEP, BEPC, and BAC.

For him, this pilot phase will only concern students admitted to the baccalaureate. "They will be admitted to centers for a month where they will receive courses on six training modules, modules focused, among other things, on entrepreneurship, citizenship, ethics and the current vision of the country's highest authorities," he explained.

The representative of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education (IPEQ), Pascal Ou©draogo, invited the students to keep in mind that the initiatives implemented by the highest authorities aim to build a better Burkina Faso and for the future of the Nation. He encouraged future high school graduates not to avoid this compulsory patriotic immersion which will be sanctioned by a certificate which could be required when registering at universities in Burkina.

The well-engaged students asked questions, among other things, about the training period, student health, safety, clothing during immersion, and the competition schedule. In response to these concerns, the speakers reassured the students that the measure is well structured and is based on an inclusive and anticipatory approach, giving each region the opportunity to take ownership of this ambitious reform.

The students pledged to pass their exams and to be pioneers in this promotion of compulsory patriotic immersion, which will make them patriotic men and women, model citizens, committed young people aware of the issues at stake.
