Koupela: The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Koupela, Moumouni Sagnon, presided over a municipal workshop on Thursday, April 23, 2026, to map opportunities for creating and/or strengthening income-generating activities (IGAs). This meeting is part of the implementation of the TEELTAABA project, carried out in partnership with the Zood-Noma Association for Development (AZND).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop focused on mastering local dynamics that promote sustainable economic activities. The aim was to map opportunities for creating and strengthening income-generating activities in Koupela. During the event, participants identified promising economic sectors and industries adapted to local realities.
The participants analyzed various sectors, including agricultural, artisanal, and commercial, to identify constraints and opportunities for development. The workshop facilitated mapping existing activities, assessing their growth potential, and establishing a database for interactive opportunity mapping.
Sister Felicite Sandwidi from OCADES Caritas Koupela emphasized the workshop's significance for supporting vulnerable groups. She highlighted activities like dyeing and weaving, which could become substantial income sources for women due to their high demand.
Alain Sawadogo, the head of entrepreneurship for the TEELTAABA project, appreciated the active participation of local stakeholders. He noted that participants identified existing activities and constraints, leading to relevant recommendations for better structuring and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives. The project plans additional training to help beneficiaries develop solid business plans, which will be vital for project funding.
Moumouni Sagnon welcomed the workshop as an opportunity to strengthen the economic capacities of the population. He encouraged beneficiaries to commit to the opportunities offered, emphasizing that success relies on their determination and involvement.
The TEELTAABA project, an initiative of Welthungerhilfe (WHH) funded by German cooperation (BMZ), operates in six communes in the provinces of Kourittenga and Namentenga. It has technical support from the Zood-Noma Association for Development (AZND).
