Ouagadougou: The municipality of Gon-Boussougou paid tribute on Wednesday to Mohamed Mar©, office worker and former mayor of the municipality, who has been granted retirement rights after more than 30 years of service to the community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony, presided over by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune, Pangassu Gninkan, brought together members of the special delegation, customary and religious authorities, as well as relatives, friends, and acquaintances who came to express their gratitude to the now retired. The speakers highlighted Mohamed Mar©'s dedication to the development of Gon-Boussougou.

His professional journey began in 1993 as a volunteer agent at the prefecture, a position he maintained until 2000. He continued as a contract agent from 2000 to 2003 before being recruited as an office agent the same year. Mar©'s leadership was recognized by the people when he was elected mayor of Gon-Boussougou in the first municipal elections in 2006, with his mandate being renewed in 2012 and 2016. His tenure concluded with the dissolution of the councils of the territorial authorities in February 2022.

Testimonies at the event commended Mar© as a committed individual who significantly contributed to areas such as education, health, the economy, and social welfare within the community. Expressing his gratitude at the ceremony, Mohamed Mar© thanked the special delegation for their recognition of his efforts. "Working until retirement and still being alive is a blessing," he stated, expressing appreciation for the support he received throughout his career.

He encouraged the people of Gon-Boussougou to continue fostering collaboration, commitment, and sacrifice in ongoing development endeavors. In acknowledgment of his dedication and service, Mohamed Mar© was awarded the medal of honor of local authorities in 2020.
