Ouagadougou: The Muslim community celebrates Ramadan under the banner of continuing Allah's work for the return of peace. Muslim worshippers in Ouri celebrated Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, on March 20, 2026, with a prayer session at the Grand Mosque. The prayer included recitations of Quranic verses in praise of Allah, the dissemination of messages of peace, and an appeal to Muslims to refrain from hate speech on social media.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this celebratory platform allowed El Hadj Mamadou Fofana, the Grand Imam of the mosque, to remind everyone that the role of Muslims is to work for peace and cohesion within the community through prayer. He therefore invited the faithful to continue their work for God after this month of fasting. "The Ramadan celebration must also be accompanied by a surge of solidarity towards the most vulnerable through almsgiving, which is a fundamental pillar of Islam," he emphasized.
A delegation from the Catholic Church and a special delegation from the municipality joined their Muslim brothers and sisters in the celebration, in a spirit of religious coexistence. "May God answer your prayers and bring peace back to our country. Above all, let us avoid religious discrimination," asked Jean Fran§ois Bague, catechist of the Marie M¨re parish in Ouri.
As for Yacouba Ivo, head of the sanitation department at the town hall, he welcomed the crucial role played by the Muslim community in the municipality in the pursuit of peace and social cohesion. "May God accept our prayers and stabilize our beloved homeland," he added.
This prayer session was a moment of gratitude to Allah the Almighty, of joy, of reunion and of strengthening the bonds of solidarity of the entire Muslim community.
