Muslim Worshippers in Titao Urged to Remain Vigilant Amid Terrorist Threat

Titao: Like other localities in the country, Muslim worshippers in Titao celebrated Eid al-Fitr on Friday, March 20, 2026, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Present alongside the Muslim faithful, the High Commissioner of Loroum Province, Djibril Bassole, called for greater unity and vigilance in the face of the terrorist threat.

According to Burkina Information Agency, neighborhoods such as Tansaliga, Bounayiri, Sogodin, and Watinoma saw gatherings of Muslim faithful for the Eid al-Fitr prayer. After observing the two rakats of the Eid al-Fitr prayer, imams preached for peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso and the locality.

"We are going through difficult times, this is a period of war. I ask you to come to an understanding, to remain united and to pray for peace," urged the imam of Tansalga, Sheikh Amade Ouedraogo. On behalf of the religious leader, Cheick Karamogho Mohammed Ouedraogo, he expressed gratitude and support to the authorities and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), and paid tribute to martyrs who fell in the line of duty.

The occasion also served as an opportunity for local leaders to emphasize the importance of unity and vigilance. Mahamadi Ouedraogo, a member of the Transitional Legislative Assembly representing the VDP, urged the population to be vigilant and attentive to suspicious behavior. He advised communities to avoid welcoming strangers, stating that some street vendors might be spies in the pay of the enemy.

The High Commissioner of Loroum Province, Djibril Bassole, participated in the prayers at Tansaliga before visiting other prayer sites. He conveyed the administration's message of solidarity and reiterated the call for cohesion and vigilance against terrorist threats. "Be very vigilant at these times when the enemy seems to be on the lookout by following security instructions and reporting any suspicious cases," he recommended.

In Titao, the end of Ramadan was celebrated with restraint but in a spirit of solidarity and sharing, reflecting the community's resilience in difficult times.
