Naba Saaga of Meguet Calls for Peace and Protection in Burkina Faso

Ganzourgou: On the occasion of the 2nd edition of the Customs and Traditions Days this Thursday, May 15, Naba Saaga, traditional chief of Meguet, offered chickens and a ram as sacrifices to the ancestors in his palace. A spiritual process during which he implored peace for Burkina Faso, a good rainy season, and divine protection for the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the traditional sacrifice was performed by the Tingsoaba of Meguet, in the presence of local customary authorities, directors and heads of provincial services, headed by the high commissioner of the province of Ganzourgou, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba. This commemoration, intended as a moment to promote cultural roots, is part of a dynamic of strengthening social ties and recognizing traditions in the construction of a peaceful Burkina.

Naba Saaga expressed appreciation for the government's initiative in establishing a dedicated day for traditions, highlighting the importance of such recognition for customary and traditionalists. "All religions have come to discover our traditions. But traditions didn't have a dedicated day. The government did very well by establishing this day, and it pleases customary and traditionalists," said the chief of Meguet after the ritual.
