Zecco: The Secretary General of the Nahouri Province, Emile Hien, presided over the Day of Excellence this Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Zecco, under the theme: 'Excellence in Primary, Post-Primary, and Secondary Education: A Springboard to Magnify Everyone's Efforts in Peace.' This inaugural event provided an opportunity to recognize more than 80 individuals involved in education.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the town of Zecco, located about forty kilometers east of P´, vibrated on Saturday to the rhythm of the celebration of merit. More than 80 individuals from the world of education were honored for their exceptional achievements, marking the event as a significant milestone for the community.
In a festive atmosphere imbued with solemnity, provincial and local authorities, parents of students, and education stakeholders gathered to celebrate the accomplishments. This ceremony highlighted more than 80 award winners, ranging from the brightest students to the most dedicated teachers.
The choice of theme for this first edition was deliberate, emphasizing the link between academic excellence and peace. The municipality stressed that education is a critical defense against instability and that rewarding students is an investment in a future of conscious and constructive citizens.
A total of 84 actors, including 30 teachers, received letters of congratulations. The best female and male teachers were awarded tablets in addition to letters of congratulations. Among the 54 recognized students, 41 received school kits, while 10 received a bicycle alongside their kit. Prizes were also awarded to two vulnerable students and one child with a disability.
Individuals from various social strata were recognized for their commitment to promoting education and social actions in the area. Emile Hien congratulated the community of Zecco for organizing this inaugural event, calling for community solidarity and parental responsibility. He emphasized that excellence is a result of collaboration between the school, family, and community.
The ceremony concluded with an appeal from Vincent Sia, Head of the Basic Education District of Zecco, and Alidou Bakieka, chairman of the council of the departmental high school, to maintain the momentum of performance. They urged Zecco to remain a center of educational excellence despite current challenges.
The first edition of this event was sponsored by the president of the Zecco traders, El Hadj Issouf T. Sia.
