Ouagadougou: Residents of the village of Tamissougou in the commune of Ziou gathered on Monday, August 17, 2026, for a reforestation initiative aimed at restoring their local forest. By the end of the day, the community had successfully planted over 1,000 seedlings.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the reforestation day was organized as a segment of the LOGMell project. The primary objective was to plant the seedlings in Tamissougou's village forest to aid in preserving the vegetation cover and combating land degradation.

The event witnessed active participation from the local population, alongside administrative and customary authorities, as well as technical services. Their collective efforts underscored a commitment to re-greening the village forest.

Salam Maran, President of the special delegation of the municipality of Ziou, lauded the community's efforts. He emphasized that their mobilization is a testament to their dedication to environmental protection and sustainable development within the municipality.

This activity is a component of the broader LOGMell project, which is dedicated to environmental protection and the restoration of natural resources.
