Nahouri: More than 1,000 chickens of dubious origin were incinerated in Dakola, in a joint operation by the Dakola cross-border veterinary control post and the national gendarmerie, aimed at safeguarding public health from potential avian diseases.According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation saw 1,140 chickens, meticulously packed in 95 cartons, destroyed under the supervision of the prosecutor at the Pô High Court, Arsène Gaëtan Banse. He reiterated that Burkina Faso enforces strict regulations prohibiting the import and sale of poultry from co untries affected by avian influenza viruses, specifically H5N1 and H5N3, as per an interministerial decree from 2015.Prosecutor Banse issued a stern warning to illegal importers, emphasizing that those involved in this unlawful trade would face prosecution in line with current food safety laws. Meanwhile, the veterinary official praised the vigilance and collaboration between the technical services and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), urging the public to work closely with authorities to ensure health preservation and protection from substandard products.
