Nahouri Smuggling Crackdown: Two Arrested with 1500 Cartons of Contraband Cigarettes

Nahouri: The central police station of the city of P´ presented, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, two individuals on board a vehicle transporting 1500 cartons of contraband cigarettes of the brand "BON" worth 8 million CFA francs, during operation WIBGA2. On April 28th, the Minister of Security launched Operation WIBGA2.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister's statement called on security services to intensify patrols and conduct thorough searches of all vehicles. Therefore, the population was urged to strictly adhere to the instructions, to exercise increased vigilance, and to report any suspicious cases or behavior without delay to the relevant authorities.

This is how the national police of Nahouri put an end to the smuggling activities of two individuals who were involved in trafficking and selling "BON" brand cigarettes worth 08 million CFA francs between the border of Burkina Faso and Ghana. The arrest took place during the night of May 5-6, 2026 by personnel at the Tambolo security checkpoint.

The provincial director of the national police in Nahouri congratulated the officers for the professionalism with which the operation was carried out and invited them to continue in this dynamic. The police are calling on the public to carry the terms of the Minister of Security's statement around them or to call the toll-free numbers 17, 1010, and 16.
