Nahouri: Tangassogo High School Awarded Best in Kassena Wall Decoration

Nahouri: The Dizedani association of T®©b©l©, organized from March 20 to 23, 2025, in the royal courtyard of T®©b©l©, the tenth edition of the "Dora" competition (Kassena wall decoration). For this edition, it was the students of the Tangassogo high school who were crowned best decorators.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Dizedani association of Ti©b©l©, a town located about thirty km east of P´, once again honored tradition by organizing the tenth edition of the 'Dora' competition, a Kassena wall decoration event. Around one hundred girls from high schools and colleges in the commune of T®©b©l© participated in this edition. The competition aims to engage young girls in promoting the Kassena culture by familiarizing them with materials integral to Kassena wall decoration.

The event also seeks to preserve and restore the royal court of T®©b©l©, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2024. Over three days, students, under the guidance of art specialists, worked to make the surfaces of the courtyard walls both flat and aesthetic.

The president of the jury, Arnaud Ouanbatoua, praised the students' efforts, noting that only small details separated the competitors. He encouraged the learners to continue improving their skills to help preserve Kassena culture. Tangassogo High School emerged victorious with an average score of 16/20, followed by the private high school La Vision de Guenon with 15.66/20.

Odile K. Atogba, representing Tangassogo High School, expressed her satisfaction with winning the first prize, emphasizing the cultural importance of wall decoration. The president of the special delegation of the commune of T®©b©l©, Aime Y. Gu©, congratulated the association for its initiative and encouraged participants to pass on their acquired knowledge and values.

Casimir Abatidan Nassara, the association's president, expressed satisfaction with the event's success, highlighting the community's enthusiasm despite limited resources. He emphasized that the goal is not just to create winners, but to ensure that societal values are passed down to younger generations.

The winning school, Tangassogo High School, received an envelope of 50,000 CFA francs and school supplies. Other participating establishments were also rewarded. The association received support from its partner CUOMO FOUNDATION for the event's activities.
