Nanoro: The Relwend© Association Tackles the Unsanitary Conditions of the Central Market

Nanoro: Members of the Relwend© association took over the central market of Nanoro on Wednesday for a large-scale cleanup operation, AIB observed on site. This citizen initiative aims to provide a healthy living environment for shopkeepers and users. Armed with brooms and courage, the women of the Relwend© association made cleanliness their priority this morning.

According to Burkina Information Agency, for this group, cleaning up the market, a place of daily convergence for the purchase of essential products, is an essential act of public health. This clean-up day is not an isolated event: it echoes the Burkinabe government's vision for urban hygiene, recalling the efforts of the "Laabal Brigade". The main objective is to transform the environment to drastically reduce the spread of diseases linked to unsanitary conditions.

"This work of cleaning allows us to live healthily and prevent pathologies," stressed the representative of the president of the association, Bernadette Zoma. While the will is there, the material resources are sometimes lacking. Ms. Zoma took the opportunity to request the support of the municipal authorities, while thanking them for their current support.

"We are determined volunteers, but we need protective equipment: gloves, boots, wheelbarrows... Handling this garbage without protection exposes us to contaminated objects and infections," she pleaded. She concluded her speech by praising the President of Faso's vision for a prosperous and healthy Burkina Faso.

Locally, the initiative has been met with unanimous approval. Rachida Konkobo, a condiment vendor, makes no secret of her satisfaction. For her, a clean market is a major selling point: "It makes the market more appealing. Our products are better presented and healthier for the community. I encourage everyone to join us, because it's in everyone's best interest."
