Nanoro: The town of Nanoro vibrated on Sunday, March 30, to the rhythm of the 22nd edition of the Atypical Donkey Races (CAAN), a competition that celebrated social cohesion, AIB noted.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized jointly by the Brothers of the Holy Family and the town hall, and has become a must-attend since its creation in 2004. It has once again mobilized local populations around the values of forgiveness, solidarity, and living together.
In a security context marked by the challenge of terrorism, this competition aims to be a true vehicle for unity. It offers a privileged setting for communion between administrative authorities, religious leaders, and the inhabitants of Nanoro, united by their passion for this emblematic animal.
This year, the competition attracted 300 competitors, 12 of whom distinguished themselves in the final phase. True to the spirit of camaraderie, the organizing committee made sure to reward all participants.
Community spokesperson Jonas Baki praised the courage of the young riders. "I am delighted with how well this year's event went. The children demonstrated great skill with their mounts," he said. Reminding everyone that the donkey is "a symbol of patience, endurance, and a faithful companion in the fields," he encouraged the community to take good care of them.
For his part, the 2nd Vice-President and representative of the President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Issouf Kondombo, expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiasm generated by this initiative, which strengthens the ties between the sons and daughters of the locality.
The grand prize winner of this edition, Inoussa Sankara, expressed his joy after his victory. He left with a donkey and 20 kilograms of rice, and made a point of thanking the organizers for ensuring the continuation of this festive and unifying event.
