Nazinon: The Governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma, officially launched the Civic and Patriotic Education program for middle school students in the region's secondary schools at the Naaba Baongo Provincial High School in Manga. Administrative, military, and paramilitary authorities were present. The initiative aims to strengthen civic, patriotic, and moral values among the students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor praised the initiative led by the highest authorities in the country, expressing her gratitude to all those involved, including the educational community, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), regional directors, and technical partners engaged in organizing the activities. She reiterated that the program aims to instill values of order and discipline, develop civic-mindedness and patriotism, promote cleanliness, sanitation, and eco-citizenship, strengthen solidarity and community spirit, and combat drug use. "It will be about teaching students the values of the nation and a sense of duty," she stated, urging the participants to engage responsibly.
Addressing the students, the regional authority emphasized that they represent the hope of the Burkinabe nation in a context marked by numerous challenges. She expressed confidence in their discipline and determination to make this first edition a success.
For her part, the Regional Director of Secondary, Vocational and Technical Education (DR-ESFPT) for Nazinon, Djeneba Ouedraogo, indicated that this activity follows the patriotic immersion program organized last August for students who passed the baccalaureate exam, whose results were deemed satisfactory. "We felt it necessary to extend this initiative to students in intermediate grades in order to contribute to a change in attitudes," she explained.
At the regional level, 22,292 students, including 12,865 girls and 9,427 boys, from 56 secondary schools, are participating in the activity. Supervision is provided by the security forces with the support of 157 civilian volunteers. Among the participants, Yasmine Coulibaly, a 5th-grade student at the Naaba Baongo Provincial High School, said she was motivated by the testimonies of her older peers. "Listening to my brothers and sisters who participated last year, I understood that they had acquired a lot of knowledge," she said, expressing her satisfaction with this civic learning opportunity.
It should be noted that the 56 establishments concerned by the first phase are spread across the three provinces, namely 20 establishments in Zoundweogo, 21 in Bazega, and 15 in Nahouri.
