Gnagna: The new DP of the Family pledges to work with humility and ambition. The Secretary General of the Gnagna province, Mendien dit Moussa Soma, installed the social affairs administrator, Bakouan Issouf, on Wednesday as the new provincial director of Family and Solidarity of Gnagna, replacing Marcel Yameogo, who led the structure for more than nine years.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by the Secretary General of the Gnagna province, Mr. Mendien dit Moussa Soma, representing the High Commissioner, in the presence of the constituted bodies as well as the staff of the provincial directorate. On this occasion, a strong tribute was paid to the outgoing director for the nine years spent at the head of the Provincial Directorate of Family and Solidarity (DPFS) of Gnagna.
In his speech, Mr. Mendien praised the "selflessness and sacrifices" made by Mr. Marcel Yameogo, in a context marked by security and humanitarian challenges. He also expressed his confidence in the new director, whom he urged to consolidate the achievements while injecting new momentum, based on cohesion and teamwork.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Marcel Yameogo expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities for the trust placed in him since his appointment in January 2017. Speaking about his record, he reported "appreciable" results in the areas of social protection, the promotion of the rights of women and children, as well as in the management of humanitarian crises, including the care of internally displaced persons (IDPs), in collaboration with national structures and humanitarian partners.
Acknowledging the persistence of many challenges, he invited his former colleagues to remain mobilized alongside the new director, before apologizing to anyone he may have offended during his time in the province. He also expressed wishes for peace and security for Gnagna and the whole of Burkina Faso.
For his part, the new provincial director, Mr. Bakouan Issouf, expressed his gratitude to God as well as to the national and administrative authorities for the trust placed in him. He pledged to work, with humility and determination, to consolidate and strengthen actions in support of women, families, and vulnerable people.
Aware of the scale of the mission, Mr. Bakouan stressed the need for synergy of actions with all stakeholders, including decentralized technical services and management staff. 'Nothing lasting can be achieved without unity and understanding,' he stressed, calling for a collective commitment to meet the challenges. He also praised the "immense" work done by his predecessor, while requesting the support of provincial authorities and partners for the success of his mission.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of gifts to the outgoing director, as a token of appreciation for services rendered to the province, in an atmosphere filled with emotion and conviviality.
