Ouagadougou: A new Board of Directors installed at the head of SOSUCO to meet the company’s challenges
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, on behalf of the Minister, presided over the official installation of the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Como Sugar Company (SOSUCO) and the other members of the Board on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The new Board comprises seven members, including the Chairman.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the installation ceremony of the new Board of Directors of SOSUCO marks a new stage in the life of this strategic company in Burkina Faso. Presiding over the ceremony on behalf of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, the Secretary General of the Ministry congratulated the new Chairman of the Board and all the directors.
In his address, he urged them to fully assume the responsibilities entrusted to them and to carry out their mission with selflessness, commitment, and a sense of duty. He also wished the Chairman of the Board every success in his new role, as well as all the members of the Board.
The Secretary General particularly emphasized the need for close collaboration between the Board of Directors, senior management, and all SOSUCO employees. He stated that this synergy is essential for the company to effectively address the challenges it faces and achieve its assigned objectives.
He therefore encouraged the directors to work together in a spirit of cohesion, complementarity, and responsibility, in order to contribute more effectively to the company’s development and performance.
Speaking in turn, the Managing Director of SOSUCO, Ouattara Djakaridja Hema, welcomed the appointment of the new Chairman and members of the Board of Directors. He expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities in the country for this decision, which he considers a significant boost for the company.
According to him, the establishment of this new Board represents an opportunity to strengthen governance and provide greater support to SOSUCO in fulfilling its mission. He reaffirmed the general management’s commitment to working closely with the directors to address the company’s various challenges.
In his inaugural address, the new Chairman of the Board, Hadi Honor Yonli, first gave thanks to God and asked for His grace and mercy for the success of the mission entrusted to him. He then expressed his profound gratitude to the highest authorities of Burkina Faso, particularly the Minister, for the trust placed in him.
Presenting himself as a “humble servant of the Republic,” the new Chairman of the Board assured everyone that he intended to prove himself worthy of this trust. He also urged the directors, the general management, and the staff of SOSUCO to work together to successfully carry out the mission entrusted to the company.
The Chairman of the Board also announced his intention to mobilize all Board members and staff around the challenges and objectives assigned to the company. He also indicated that he would not hesitate to seek advice and guidance from the supervisory authorities, if necessary, to help meet the population’s sugar needs.
The ceremony concluded on a note of commitment and hope for the future of SOSUCO, with a call for collective mobilization around the company’s objectives and its contribution to supplying the country with sugar.
Following the official installation ceremony, the new president and all members of the SOSUCO Board of Directors were introduced to the company’s workers. This presentation allowed the staff to get to know the new managers who will be supporting the general management in the running and development of the company.
